Struthers Recreation recently completed a thoughtfully designed playground at Hunter Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama—proof that even tight spaces can deliver huge play value.

Some of the standout features include:

• ShadowPlay® “Stained Glass” Roof Panels – A church favorite! These colorful panels cast vibrant patterns on the play area below, creating a beautiful, ever-changing environment that children love.

• Sensory Ramp – This inclusive feature adds interactive, tactile elements for children of all abilities, encouraging hands-on exploration and sensory-rich play.

• Functionally Linked Elements – Smart use of space with features like the Treetop Traverse, which creatively connects play elements while maximizing every inch of the layout.

• Find Me Critter Panel – Tucked into the structure, this whimsical panel invites children to search for hidden critters, adding layers of discovery and detail that spark curiosity.

With its clever design and carefully chosen elements, this playground brings joy, movement, and imagination to a compact area—showing what’s possible when design meets purpose.
