Helena Intermediate

Students at Helena Intermediate School now have a new place to play, explore, and connect during the school day. Located in Helena, Alabama, the new playground provides an engaging outdoor environment designed to support physical activity, social interaction, and fun for students in grades 3-5. Helena Intermediate School serves approximately 900 students and is part of the Shelby County School System.

The playground was designed to give students a variety of ways to climb, balance, spin, and socialize while enjoying time outdoors. With a combination of play components and freestanding activities, the space encourages active play and helps students build confidence, coordination, and teamwork skills.

Outdoor play is an important part of the school experience, providing opportunities for students to stay active, develop friendships, and take meaningful breaks from the classroom. This new playground gives Helena Intermediate students a dedicated space where they can learn through play and create lasting memories with their classmates.

Struthers Recreation was proud to partner with Helena Intermediate School and Shelby County Schools to help create a play environment that supports student wellness and enriches the school campus for years to come.
